Act IIIII of The Patient Amie, by Jenggibba (Faback Gibba)

Act IIIII, Scene One

Amie is already in Qatar for a two months and she makes  a phone call to her mother's one week old Samsung phone.
(She spoke with her mother alongside Buba for about twenty minutes and then her mother decides to give the phone to Fakaramba and the other family members too to speak to her)

Yasin: Karamba, Amie wants to speak to you.
Fakaramba: I am feeling tired, she is just wasting my time. But give it to me
(Yasin handover the phone to Fakaramba).
Fakaramba: Amie, how are you doing?
Amie: I am feeling happy father. I am in a good condition here. You forgot that this is the richest country in the world?
Fakaramba: Are you out of your mind, Amie? How did the Gambia become the richest country in the world?
Amie: I am in Qatar father and not the Gambia. Were you not told by mum that I travelled to Qatar based on the scholarship awarded to me?
Fakaramba: (He look towards the floor with shame and paused for some seconds). No. When did you left?
Amie: I left about two month  ago.
Fakaramba: That is good and ....... (Yasin's phone battery unfortunately becomes too low and the conversation stops). Hello. Hello. Low battery! (He give the phone back to Yasin).
Yasin: Oh! She will call us when she is free again.
(Fakaramba enters the house with his shame. Realizing all that happened before, he continuously kept quiet with his shame without even having the appetite of eating).

Scene Two
The following day, Fatou and Isatou come from the school with a strange news.
(They directly go with tears on their eyes straight to their mother who they think can defend them in every case).

Sally: Hey! What has they done to my children? Who attacked you? Tell me. Karamba. Come here Karamba. Come come. Tell us what happened to you. Speak Fatou.
(Fakaramba is standing and staring at them without uttering a word)
Fatou: I was disqualified. They said that I fail all my subjects. That is not true mother. (Speaking while crying).
Isatou: They told me the same thing mother. Father should go and tell them the truth.. (Also crying).
Sally: I think you heard about what you daughters said, Karamba?
Fakaramba: And so?
Sally: Do aas they say.
Fakaramba: Fatou, Isatou and Sally, go wait me in the house. I am coming for a meeting.
Sally: (With a surprise face). For what?
Fakaramba: Sally! I am not the same Karamba Bojang you know. Go and wait me in the house. And where is Buba? (Buba suddenly appears at the scene). Good! You are the one I am even asking about. Go and tell your mother Yasin too to come to my house with you for a meeting.
(All the family members curiously now sit in Fakaramba's house and he begins to speak )
Fakaramba: Sally, what type of human are you?
Sally: What have I done wrong Karamba?
Fakaramba: You are asking me? Look! Do not talk to me until I tell you to do so. You are very wicked with no mercy for others. You ruined my whole life and created room for my shame. No on respects me now because of you and your daughters. You mad me sent my own daughter who I can't talk to now due to shame. What type of woman are you? You never work, but only to watch TV, eating, drinking and sleeping. A step is between you and witches. You want to kill me because of your children, telling me to do as they say. Are they my mother?
Sally: When do you know all these?
Fakaramba: You idiot! (He wants to slap Sally for talking to him but Yasin and Buba intervened).
Yasin: Please sit down Karamba. All what you are saying right now are already considered as history and we can do less about it. I was the victim of the mistakes you are talking  about and is only my patient that caused you to realized this mistakes. I want us to forget this and consider it as a mere history.
Fakaramba: Please forgive me Yasin. I nearly died of shame after speaking to Amie yesterday. (He tries to seek forgiveness by kneeling down while tears start flowing).
Amie: No.. no.. no. Get up please. Mistakes are made for us, the humans. The important thing is to realize your mistakes and change. I have nothing in my heart if not I will leave since day one.
(Sally, Isatou and Fatou also apologises while Buba innocently look at them like the way he watches a football match, though speechless).
Yasin: No. No need to. We are the same family know matter what happened. I at the moment scents some good lucks coming to our family soon. What I now want is for you to work with me to ensure a happy family. One cannot do all.
Sally: From now on you will not work here alone. You will never go to your garden alone. Thank you so much Yasin for your generosity.
(They continue talking about the future plans of the family).

Scene Three
After staying together for six years in peace, unity and love, the family now has a lot to celebrate with regards to the success of the family.
(Amie makes another call on Buba's phone, but this time with a joyful mood and confidence).

Buba: Sister herself.
Amie: Yess the prince!
Fatou: Give it to me. This one is my call. (She quickly collects the phone from Buba while been so excited). The sister herself.
Amie: Wow! Oh yes! The money's friend!
Fatou: Sister herself! Guess what?
Amie: You bought the car?
Fatou: Hahahaha. Not yet. I am graduating next month 28th and you are coming for holidays that same month on the 20th. Meaning you will witness my graduation ceremony. Wooooo!
Amie: Wooow! This is the good news of the year.
Fatou: Here is father. (She give the phone to her father).
Fakaramba: Amie.
Amie: I hope you are now feeling good.
Fakaramba: Yes Amie I forgot that pain since the day you introduced me to Dr Sabally. The house is even ready and we are waiting only for you to come next month.
Amie: But why me?
Fakaramba: We want the entire family to transfer at once.
Amie: Oh ok. But where is Isatou?
Fakaramba: Your busy sister was invited to a programme organised by the Gunjur Literary and Debating Society. That is where she went.
(They happily spoke a lot before giving the phone to Sally and Yasin whom he found watching the TV. They put it on a loudspeaker mode and talk for about twenty five minutes).

Scene Four
Fifty days later, the family transferred to their new house which was a joint project in the sense that every member of the family more especially Amie, played their role in building the house. The family invites some Islamic students together with their teachers to recite the Quran at home. After the Quranic recitation, there are a party-like event in that afternoon which is attended by neighbours and other relatives.
(In that afternoon, Amie and Buba are having a conversation while the foods are been given to the people).

Amie: You know what the prince?
Buba: No.
Amie: After working in Qatar for the two compulsory years, I would like to work their again for extra five years so that I would gain more knowledge and experience. Because it might be a little bit hard here for me to upgrade myself to the standard I want to meet. I will then come for holidays twice an year.
Buba: You are right. It is a good idea.
Amie: I will also make sure to collaborate with the Edward Small Teaching hospital and share ideas especially during my holidays here, to ensure a quality health care system.
Buba: It is a blessing to be with you, sister. You are all the time selfless and you said things that are rarely said by many.
Amie: You are the best, Prince.
Buba: But when are we going to have a surprise visit to our school? I think we can make it on one fine Monday so that we can have the chance to inspire and motivate the students at their Assembly ground.
Amie: You are right prince. This is what many successful people failed to do. The students need to be inspired and motivated. To be honest, teachers alone cannot do it. Okay, I heard that our Principal, Tambajang is now a diplomat.
Buba: Yes. He is a busy man now. But we will surprise him too.
(Fatou and Isatou also join them. Hours later, the invited neighbours who are now satisfied go back to their various homes).

THE END

THE PATIENT AMIE, ACT IIII

THE PATINT AMIE
Act IIII, Scene One

It is six days since Amie left and her two sisters are not able to do the type of works she was doing before leaving. Sally realises that her children cannot cope with those works so she decides to meet her husband to discuss about it..

Sally: Karamba. (Fakaramba answered). I want to tell you something.
Fakaramba: Yes what is it?
Sally: Okay. You know that Isatou and Fatou are still school going children and I am also advised to stop working a lot. And still there are lot of works that had to be done daily.
Fakaramba: What type of works are you talking about Sally?
Sally: Sweeping every part of the compound, cooking, laundering, fetching water, washing the plates, cleaning the toilet and so many of them.
Fakaramba: Yes. But those works were in existence since this family came to being. So what do you want, Sally?
Sally: Karamba, this is not something to argue. The children normally wake up at 7:00 and prepare for school. After school, they relax and watch TV later. At night they, they go for studies. This is the way w.....
Fakaramba: I mean what do you want me to do?
Sally: I want you to look for a housemaid.
Fakaramba: That is not a problem. I will do that before next week.
Sally: Good. That's what I want to hear from you. This is for us all.
Fakaramba: I know. This is a good idea.
Sally: Okay. I need to take a shower before I start watching the TV.
(Sally leaves and left Fakaramba alone listening to the radio).

Scene Two
Two days later the housemaid arrives but she was already told about some of the things concerning her would be works. Fakaramba introduces her to Sally and left them to discuss as Sally should be the one to tell her what to do.

(Sally and the housemaid are the only ones discussing in the room)
Sally: You are welcome to the family, Mariama. Perhaps you were briefed about the work you should be doing. Anyway, you should sweep all parts of the compound including the house everyday, launder clothes every three days, wash the plates everyday, iron the dresses every four days, fetch water from the well everyday and so on.
Housemaid: Sorry Ma, but I don't know what that "and so on" contains.
Sally: But it is simple. You should expect to be sent to the shop or other places by any of my children because we are paying you.
Housemaid: I heard clearly all that you have just said. But I think you know how difficult is to do all this works without an aid?
Sally: Is your job anyway, let's go to the payment.
Housemaid: That's where I am even heading to.
Sally: How much do you want to be paid?
Housemaid: That depends on my work.
Sally: What do you mean?
Housemaid: Firstly, we need a calculator.
(Sally called on Buba to bring a calculator and start calculating what the housemaid is going to say).
Sally: You can go on now, Mariama.
Housemaid: Okay. I need to be paid D50 for sweeping all parts of the compound everyday per day, D50 for laundering fifty clothes, D25 per day for washing the plates, D50 for ironing twenty five clothes and D30 for fetching ten buckets from the well. Regarding the shop, I never expect to be sent by someone I am older than. I prefer to be sent by elders for free than children for money. Our culture does not know that.
(They all for a while bent looking at the calculator while Buba press the digits).
Sally: More than D12,000 per month? Do you know that Karamba is getting an annual salary of D7,000?
Housemaid: But fair enough Ma, the works mentioned were too much.
Sally: You know what Mariama? Just go . We will another person to do this for D1,500.
Housemaid: Okay Ma. Thank you.
(The housemaid leaves and Buba is still speechless with the calculator looking at his mother).

Scene Three
It's Monday and Amie, her mother and her uncle meet the Vice Principal of the school to discuss about the scholarship issue.
(After the usual greetings and a show of hospitality, the discussion starts).
Vice Principal: Amie, hope you did not stop reading?
Amie: (Smiles). No. Reading is my hobby.
Vice Principal: Good.
Uncle Musa: Boy. I sometimes wonder how Amie came to realise the importance of reading at this age. She at the moment changed all my children in the compound to good readers. I wish she was around since.
Vice Principal: Not a surprise boy. She is not the type to waste your energy trying to change her. Anyway Yasin, this scholarship issue will be okay as Musa was my classmate, so I will discuss more about it with him. For you, you can concentrate on your daily activities.
Yasin: Yes Sowe, it is the reason behind his presence here.
Vice Principal: I understand now. So as far as the pandemic is decreasing, we are hoping that she might travel in two months. The programme will take her seven years to complete and after which she will serve the government of Qatar for two years as agreed. During her stay there, she will come for one month holidays annually.
Uncle Musa: Meaning nine years before she will be able to decide where to work?
Vice Principal: Yes! Definitely. And part time jobs are available for her to earn money plus their monthly stipend.
Uncle Musa: That is really Good.
Vice Principal: So we will discuss more as we approach the day.
(They now forgot about the scholarship issue and they are now talking about the Corona virus).

Scene Four
A month later, Amie and her uncle meet the Vice Principal.

(After the usual greetings and the usual friendly discussion, they now start talking about the scholarship).
Vice Principal: Okay. On a more serious note Boy, Amie should travel on the 24th of June, 2020. Do you hear that Amie? So start preparing.
Amie: Okay.
Vice Principal: And boy, try to train her both emotionally and physically.
Uncle Musa: Don't worry boy.
Vice Principal: I hope you are reading those books about Qatar, Amie.
Amie: Yes Vice! I am now learning a lot with the help of that book.
Vice Principal: You never fail me, I know. So boy, there is no more to discuss regarding the scholarship issue hence we already discussed a lot on phone. This is just a formality.
(They now continue on to discussing different topics like life in the university, living in Qatar and the current situation of the world).

THE DESIRE TO READ

Whether you are a farmer, tailor, photographer or whatsoever, after reading this post you will realise the importance of reading.

THE DESIRE TO READ

I begins with a powerful quote by Frederick Douglas, "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free."

The appetite for reading must be activated when you want to achieve anything great in life because most of the important things and secrets in life are stored in a readable materials such as dictionaries, newspapers, books including religious scriptures and so on. We live in a world where plenty of secrets and ways to succeed overflow in a form of information, but we can only make them useful if we read them.

When I think of a 21st century man who can't read and understand the physician's instruction on a bottle of medicine, I wonder the importance of their smartphone. There are many elders in the society who find it tough or impossible to fill any form of applications, or even to read a private text message. They thereby invite others to help them, thus changing private to public. This is obviously a threat to not only their secrets or potential achievements, but also against their personality as a whole.

Apart from keeping secrets, the ability to read is essential as it helps you to grow emotionally and psychologically. Once a reader read, they are opportune to know new things. Therefore reading makes one to be smarter and becomes more knowledgeable. Just like physical exercise, reading too is mental exercise. Always bear in your mind that whatever you read, you must learn something positive from it to improve your life.

It is undisputable that the internet has revolutionized our world and make it a global village. But there are also disadvantages as well. Many people are loosing focus only because they waste or utilizes most of their precious time in watching videos, reading unnecessary memes online, charting etc. Those people mainly read only for fun but not to obtain any meaningful understanding about anything. And is only reading that can help us concentrate for a better success in life.

Do you know that reading can bring joy to your life on a daily basis? Yes! Sometimes the days can be a little bit stressful due to some circumstances but believe me, when you lay down at night and curl up with something cool to read, it will surely wipe that stress away. I always feel that a normal person should not complete their day without reading at least a paragraph.

Reading can also broaden your vocabulary or mind. Anytime you read, more new information is added to the previous ones. You can use those previous knowledge together with the new ones to create ideas and express yourself. It is one of the effective ways one can understand things happening or affecting them. The power of reading is ultimate and the desire for it makes your studies easier because whatever you study, you have to read and understand before applying.

Whether you are a soldier, tailor, artist, pilot, farmer, mechanic or whatsoever, you will come across something vital to read everyday. If you can't, then get ready for an interpreter or you start learning how to read, because we cannot dodge away from it. Like eating and drinking it is also a social process. The importance of reading is increasing day by day.

NOTE: If your appetite for reading has been deactivated, please try to activate it as you will forever face reading materials.

THE PATIENT AMIE, ACT III

THE PATIENT AMIE ACT III

Act III, Scene One
Fakaramba and his wife (Sally) discuss about how to eliminate Amie from the compound. Yasin opposes the idea but later allows Amie to leave.
(Fakaramba already had a meeting with his other wife (Sally) and he now calls for another meeting to be attended by him and his two wives alone).

Fakaramba:Yasin. Yasin (Yasin answered). Sally. (Sally answered). As your husband, I invites you to this meeting so that we can see how best we can manage the family economically.
Yasin: This is really a good thought. I would also like to tell you about the outcome of my last visit to the school as I was unfortunate to meet you till now.
Fakaramba: Sally, did you invited us for a meeting or I invited you for a meeting?
Sally: You invited us, my husband.
Fakaramba: So wait until I give you chance to speak.
Sally: Ohh Karamba: Hurry up because I am sleepy.
Fakaramba: Okay. You all know that the world is suffering from a pandemic called Corona Virus and because of that prices of food is also increasing hourly.
Yasin: Yes.
Fakaramba: So therefore, I want Amie to go to her uncles so that the expenditure can be reduced.
Yasin: But you all know that she is the one who cooks on Saturdays and Sundays and helps me with a lot of works. Who is going to do all that in her absence?
Fakaramba: And she will go.
Yasin: I did not said that she will not go. But if she left who will do as she is doing? Besides, doesn't she too have the same family rights like that of her sisters and brother?
Fakaramba: I made my decision. And as the family head, not the tail, I have the final say.
Yasin: And also....
Fakaramba: Hold it! I said hold it. This is no longer a discussion but a decision so whether good or bad I care zero.
(Fakaramba leaves the house and Sally follows. Yasin also think for a while and then leave the house)

Scene Two
Hours later, Amie and her mother meet to discuss about Fakaramba's decision. They are no longer upset.
Yasin: Amie.
Amie: Yes mother.
Yasin: Amie. It is both a bad and a good news.
Amie: I am in a suspense mother.
Yasin: Don't worry, I will explain.
Amie: Please do that mum.
Yasin: Okay I will start with the bad news.
Amie: Okay.
Yasin: And don't be upset please because it will give birth to the good news.
Amie: I am listening mother.
Yasin: Okay. We agreed that you should go and live in Touray Kunda because your father said due to this pandemic the money he is spending is too much and he believes that your absence will help him.
Amie: But will my sisters and my brother also leaves.
Yasin: No he wants you alone to leave.
Amie: And why can that unfair treatment be considered a good news.
Yasin: Alhamdullila (she repeated three twice). I know that you don't forget about your scholarship issue.
Amie: Yes mother, but that is about academics
Yasin: I know that my daughter. But listen. Since I came from your school, your father did not give me the green light to discuss about the issue with him. I also know that they might try to spoil your chance of going to Qatar. But thank God, now you will be in Touray Kunda while we plans the trip. This can even facilitate the trip without any form of hindrance. Perhaps this is Allah's help to avoid possible problem.
Amie: I understand now mother.
Yasin: It is not my wish to see you leaving but after thinking about it, I believes it is the best for us.
Amie: Then I shall leave mum. But I hope you do not forget about our next meeting with the Vice Principal.
Yasin: Yes! he said that due to the pandemic and schools are closed, we will meet in his home this Monday coming.
Amie: And when will I leave mum?
Yasin: You can just start packing from now till tomorrow afternoon. I already talked to your uncle about it and he will come for you tomorrow afternoon.
Amie: Yes mum. I will now go and finish up my remaining works before I starts packing.
Yasin: Yes! Please do that.

Scene Three
A day later while Buba is away, Amie's uncle comes for him as planned by them already. Fakaramba and his wife (Sally) pretend to be sleeping so as to avoid any possible discussion with Amie's uncle. While Amie is transferring her luggage from the house to the car, Isatou and Fatou are peeping through the other window.
(Amie's uncle enters the compound and exchange greetings with Amie and Yasin).
Uncle Musa: Where is Fakaramba?
Yasin: He is in the house with Sally and other children.
Amie: Can I check on him mother?
Yasin: Yes, please do that. I wonder if they are not sleeping.
(Amie goes to where her father is sleeping and then come with a message).
Yasin: Where is him, Amie?
Amie: Mbasally told me that he is sleeping. She also told me to go and that she will inform my father about it later.
Uncle Musa: But is he feeling good?
Yasin: He is feeling good I think.
Uncle Musa: Then he should come.
Yasin: Musa you are somehow right but let's forget that and do as he said.
Uncle Musa: But I don't understand, Yasin.
Yasin: We are used to such so let's go.
Uncle Musa: Okay then. (He then entered the car).

Scene Four
The following day afternoon, Buba realizes the absence of Amie and he goes directly to Amie's mother (Yasin).
Buba: Mother.
Yasin: Yes Buba. I even thought that you are not around.
Buba: I was in my room reading a book written by Modou Lamin Sowe.
Yasin: But who is this Modou Lamin Sowe? Because I heard Amie also talking about him before.
Buba: He is an immerging West African writer and a young scholar.
Yasin: Okay that's good.  Keep trying. I always tell the same thing to Amie.
Buba: Okay! Where is Amie even?
Yasin: Amie is now in Touray Kunda.
Buba: Why? For what?
Yasin: Because your father wants to be there. He suggests that due to the current pandemic, Amie should leave the compound so that he can spend less.
Buba: Which means that we are also leaving?
Yasin: No he want you guys to stay.
Buba: Why this selective justice?
Yasin: He is the head so he makes the final decision.
Buba: Then I will also leave for my mother's compound.
Yasin: No. Don't do that.
Buba: That will be fair.
Yasin: I know but don't do that.
Buba: I don't understand all what father is doing. He is never fair since I knew myself. His principles are never based on Democracy, they are not even based on the Shariah law. He just do things as my mother wants.
Yasin: Buba. This is not a thing you should talk about. In fact, do you know that this will help Amie more than anyone else?
Buba: How do you mean?
Yasin: Before telling you this, I would like you to keep it as a secret.
Buba: Okay mum. I promised.
Yasin: Good. Amie should leave for Qatar as soon as this pandemic is gone.
Buba: For..for What?
Yasin: For studies based on the scholarship awarded to her.
Buba: Alhamdullilla. (He repeated twice and bowed down in a form of worship for about thirty seconds and then raised his head.) And?
Yasin: Knowing all that is happening, I believes this a work of Allah.
Buba: Did father against this success?
Yasin: He does not allow us to discuss about it. He is not even aware about it.
Buba: So what are you planning
Yasin: We should meet the Vice Principal to discuss about it.
Buba; I wil....
(Fatou enters the house without even greeting)
Yasin: Go and answer Buba.
(Buba and Fatou leave).

The Patient Amie, Act II

THE PATIENT AMIE
ACT II
Scene One
It is after the tests at school, the test results shows that Amie defeated the whole class, followed by Buba while Isatou and Fatou performs so poorly. Fakaramba organises a family meeting where the students can also take it as an opportunity to show their results to the other family members. The results shock Sally but convince by Isatou and Fatou that the tests were not fairly conducted.
(All the family members sat and the meeting begins)

Fakaramba: Welcome everyone to the today's meeting. Being the host for the today's meeting, I would like my kids to take this as an opportunity to show their test results to all the family members here present.
(Everyone clap for him. He then proceed to call all the four kids including Amie for the presentation. The marks of the students are to be recorded and announced by Fakaramba's brother known as Uncle Omar)
Uncle Omar: Attention please, listen everyone. I, in my capacity as the proud uncle of these wonderful kids will announce the results as given to me. The children were tested on ten different subjects but I calculated and put it in percentage form. After that I will give an opportunity for all the children to say something. Before going further, can we please put our left palm and right palm together for their hard working mothers.
(People clap for a while)
I will start with Isatou. Though her result is not encouraging enough and I would like him to triple her effort. Anyway, she failed all the subjects except P.E. and scores 30%.
(Murmuring begins and no one clap).
I will move to her sister, Fatou  who also produced a disappointing result, though, more than Isatou's. She too failed all the subjects except P.E. and therefore, he too needs to triple her effort.
(Everyone still not in exiting mood)
Now to the big brother and the future compound head who is no one other than Buba. He tried a lot compare to his sisters and needs to be commended. He is lucky to have only blue inks on his results which means he pass all the subjects. In fact, he has only Excellent and V. Good as interpretations on his results, not even Credit. And according to the results, he took second position in their class.
(Everyone become exited and continuous clapping starts which took nearly three minutes to stop)
Attention please! Attention! Attention! please! We have a long way to go and many things should be discuss please.
I shall now continue to the last student (Isatou). She earns  my respect from today and she also deserve a gift from me for her outstanding effort. He managed to have Excellent in all her subjects and scored 94%. According to her results, she is second to know in their class.
(Family members shout and clap to the extent that neighbours start filling the compound. And it took ten minutes before the meeting becomes in order)
Thank you everyone. I would like to give the flow to the children for them too to say something.
Isatou: I should have more marks than Amie even my mother can be my witness. Our teacher did not like me that is why he reduced my marks. He is always with Amie during break time. But come next Exam I will defeat the whole class.
(Everyone murmuring and looking at each other, doubting what she is saying)
Fatou: I am also cheated if not I will have a higher mark that Amie. But the final Exam is coming and we shall see.
(Murmuring and doubting continuous)
Buba: Respected Uncle, my two mums, dad and everyone present here, I am content of what I have and I promised to add more effort. As my sister, I know that Amie even deserves more than what she had got. I would therefore like to congratulate her for hers success and also thank her for her sacrifice, patience and understanding. I can't say everything here.
(Another clapping starts, but this time is the amazed elders)
Amie: Thank you brother. Dear uncle, father, my two mothers and everyone. Brother Buba had almost made me speechless and special thanks goes to the Almighty Allah for giving me such a strength. I will not say much because I believe in actions than speech. Anyway, if I am right, dad expects less from me as less is given to me but I will always surprise you dad.
(All the family members emotionally shows their lack of understanding about Amie's statement but still claps happily)
Edrisa: Good evening everyone. As a close friend to Karamba, I think I am also part of the family but I will say less. I can attest to the fact that Amie is a discipline girl and always greet me whenever I visit this home. It is not a surprise for me that she scored such marks. Whenever I come to this home, this decent girl will only ask me about my children's educational career. I realized that she does more  works in the compound. And during the weekends, she will cook. Apart from her mother she is the only human being I saw cooking in this home. She is also a girl that have less time to talk and complain about issues in the compound.
Thank you all.
(Everyone starts wondering)
Sally: For me, I am totally disappointed by the school administration. I don't trust them at all. How can I pay a study teacher for my children and then defeated by a girl who always keep sleeping in her mother's room. I will not sit with such a shame. I will see the Principal or Karamba himself to see him.
Yasin: Alhamdullillahi Rabil Alamin. (said three times). I am just a mother who equally care for all these children. I considers all of them as my own children. I choose to say less and I will therefore give chance for my husband, in his capacity as the head of the family, to speak.
Fakaramba: Many people say whatever they wanted. But as far as I am concern, I will visit the school myself and seek the truth. I heard from many villagers that the teachers in the school are not honest but I shall see.
Anyway, it is not the main agenda for today's meeting, so I think we can now proceed to the main one.
Malik: I saw you point brother but I want you to understand that this results analysis is also important. It will inspire us to teach our children to become like Amie.
But hence we have less time, I think the best thing is to adjourn the meeting till next week.
(All family members shows their satisfaction)
Uncle Omar: As agreed by all of us, the meeting is adjourn to next Saturday. Malik's should be the host as stated on the timetable.
Malik: Like we did today, My children too will also present their results.

Scene Two
Fakaramba fulfils the promise he made by visiting the school. He goes directly to the Principal's office. Without seeking any truth from the Principal, he directly accuses the school with something that the Principal cannot agree.

Fakaramba: Good morning Mr Tambajang.
Principal: Good Morning and welcome Karamba
Fakaramba: Thank you. But Tambajang, I came to make findings about my children.
Principal: Great. You deserve to know.
Fakaramba: I was told that teachers in this school are dishonest and as such they award marks base on mere friendship or romantic love. And I, Karamba can proof that. My two hardworking daughters were studying every night before the exams with the help of a study teacher and yet they all failed their exam while others that never had a study teacher are scoring high marks in all their subjects.
Principal: Point of correction! your hardworking daughter. Also, it is that the study teacher will pill you daughters' heads apart, fix the knowledge and then seal it again? In fact, you initially said that the purpose of your visit is to seek the truth but you pretends to know more than any person.
Fakaramba: What matter is the dishonesty of your teachers.
Principal: Listen carefully Karamba, I am very confident that all my teachers are honest, and they award marks based on who did what during their various assessments. How can we be dishonest when your daughter took first in a class where the Principal's son and the Alikalo's daughter are. You an not young so therefore think well before you act Karamba. It is a useless father who accept to be mislead by his own children. This is a very big embarrassment and I am disappointed by you Karamba: Disappointed by the truth? Okay I will take a leave. And do justice among students. Bye
Principal: (Shaking his head while Fakaramba on his way going home) Wonders shall never end.

Scene Three
Fakaramba meet his wife (Sally) to discuss about his visit to the school.

Fakaramba: Sally. Sally. Sally.
Sally: Yes Karamba
Fakaramba: Come please.
Sally: Let me finish this and then come to you
(Fakaramba sat for about 15 minutes and Sally appeared)
Sally: Yes. I am done now.
Fakaramba: I want to tell you what I said to the school Principal today.
Sally: And what did they said?
Fakaramba: The moment I reached to them, the Principal and his teachers starts trembling knowing what I cam for. I threaten the Principal but he admitted that it was a mistake. He told me to forgive them till next time. But I emphatically warned and threatened them to the extent that I nearly slap the Principal's secretary.
Sally: But are you sure that they will not repeat again.
Fakaramba: Re.......What! They will never do it even if they consume tea gas as an alternative to coffee. I wish you see these people trembling and begging me.
Sally: Okay I am going to relax now.

Scene Four
Days later, Amie receives a scholarship to study abroad due to her outstanding performance.
She is to go to the Vice Principal with her teacher to be given a clue about it.
(During break time, Amie with her teacher in the Vice Principal's office)

Vice Principal: Good. You came at the right time. Just to inform you, Fofana, Amie has won a scholarship to study abroad. And we are deciding to see any of her parents or even both to discuss about it tomorrow.
Mr Fofana: I understand Mr Manneh. I think she deserves it more than any other student. And please, Amie either maintain or redouble your effort. And avoid those Rif-Rat boys that behave like a parasite. You should make everyone proud by setting and example. I know that you are patient but try to be more patient as you are going to a different country with diverse culture.
Amie: Thank you. I shall make good use of this opportunity.
Vice Principal: Adding to what Fofana said, you are given this opportunity not because of your wealth, religion or beauty but due to your own efforts. So please continue with that. You can now go but don't forget to inform your parents.
Amie: Thank you Sir. I will not forget. (Leaving with a smile)

Don't forget to share, please.

Fakaramba: Good morning Yasin. You are welcome.
Yasin: Well, my husband. I am here to discuss something with you pertaining to our school going kids.
Fakaramba: Okay. I am with you, continue.
Yasin: It is just that I want you to look for a study teacher for them who will be helping them at home.
Fakaramba: (Silence for a while)
Yasin: It is just that I can't afford that, if not I will help you pay for all the students.
Fakaramba: (Still silence and pretending to be thinking of something)

Sally: I heard all what you've said but I am against it.
Fakaramba: That's the reason behind my silence, Sally. I want to discuss all with you before taking a step
Sally: I know that. For me, I will never be comfortable seeing Amie studying with my children because she is a sheep in wolf clothing. No one knows what is in her heart.
Fakaramba; But but eh nm...
Sally: I know what you want to say and I have a plan for it.
Fakaramba: You mean?
Sally: I want you to pay the study fees for my children and say that I (Sally) am the very one paying study fees for my three children. And ask her to search a study teacher for Amie and pay for her.
Fakaramba: Good wife, good memory. Thank you for this wonderful suggestion.
Sally: I am going to sleep now.
Fakaramaba: Yes go and sleep. That fool will cook when she returns.

Scene Three

Mr Jeng: Assalamu Alaikum.
Sally: Walaikum Salam. Welcome Jeng.
Mr Jeng: Thank you Ma.
Sally: Alright Jeng. I am the mother of the three children you suppose to teach and I should be supervising the learning activities.
Mr Jeng: Noted Ma. But as today marks the firt meeting, I am planning to have an introduction short of to know how and where to begin.
Sally: Good. Let me even call the students. Buba, Isatou, Fatou come here. (She called them aloud)
Buba, Isatou and Fatou: Yes mum (said by the trio together)
(Three children come from the same direction)
Sally: Greet this man. He is your study teacher from now on. Buba's house will be your study room.
Buba: Then I should inform Amie about it. (He prepares to walk away)
Sally: Stop!! Idiot! Why can't you wait to be told to do so? In fact will you pay for her? If yes, then call her.
Buba: But is she....
Sally: Stop!! Why can't you always obey your mother's order? (pretends to lost her temper)
Buba: Okay mum. (with a disappointing face)
Sally: Why are you standing now? Go and prepare for the studies.
Mr Jeng: I don't understand Ma.
Sally: Don't mind him.

Scene Four
The  study teacher is already around and the children are about to start their studies.

Amie: Good evening Mr Jeng.
Mr Jeng: Good evening girl. Are you part of us? I mean are you also part of the family?
Amie: Yes. These are my brother and sisters from the same father.
Mr Jeng: Then your dad is mistaken because he mentioned only these three.
Buba: It was deliberate, not a mistake. I don't actually know...
Isatou: Pause Buba!! You are insulting father because of this idiot.
Buba: Point of correction! I am saying the truth because she is also my sister of the same blood. And never ever try to insult her again. Or else!
Isatou: Or else? (Buba try to slap her but stop by Amie and Mr Jeng)
Buba: You are lucky.
(Sally suddenly arrive at the scene and she is shocked to see Amie in the midst of her children.)
Sally: Heyy!! What the hell is going on here?
Fatou: It is good that you arrived on time mum. We were start about to start the studies but Amie then came and start insulting us. Accusing us of  stealing and..
Buba: What!!
Sally: What have I told you Buba? Idiot!
Isatou: Buba was also insulting dad because of this witch.
Buba: Isatouuu!
Sally: Bubaaa!
Amie: Buba keep quite please, allow them to say anything. Allah is watching. In fact Mr Jeng, you were here and heard from A to Z. So please say something at least.
Sally: You are only here to teach and not to interfere in our family matters. (Pointing her pointing finger to Mr Jeng)
Mr Jeng: I am not here to teach only what the book contains, because teaching is far beyond that. Anyway, as you deemed it fit to restrict my involvement in your family matters, it is okay then.
Sally: I am glad you understand me. Continue with your work now. But this other girl should not be among.
Mr Jeng: Why that Ma?
Sally: I think you were given D300 for three students?
Mr Jeng: Yes.
Sally: So?
Mr Jeng: Don't worry Ma. She can still join, no problem about that.
Sally: Not a problem for you but a problem for us. I don't want to see her with my children. Enough is enough.
Teacher: Okay Ma'am. (Shakes his head) I shall rethink about this study class again.
Anyway, I will take a leave till tomorrow.
Sally: Good.

WHERE I LIVE

Poem Title: Where I live

Where I live.
I shall tell you where I live.
OhYes!
Yes! I shall tell you.

I live in a village
where women give birth to great men,
A village that serves not only as a settlement but also an arsenal of scholars,
historically blessed to have Sheikh Hatab Bojang, Alhagie Omar Bun Jeng and Foday Sillah.

I live in a village
considered as an ocean of knowledge and factory of leaders,
a village described as the pride and heart of Kombo South
and well known for its greatness.

I live in a village
where elders are respected and united as a bundle of firewood;
A village where elders are ever ready for
the rejection of ineptias and deliramentum in toto.

I live in a village
where elderly parents are looked after within the family and
shown the greatest respect and care;
a village where parents are respected even after their death.

I live in a village
where a couple will generally like to name
their children after their parents
in order to extend their love and respect.

I live in a village
where women are supportive;
a place where men empower their wives
and teach their children.

I live in a village
who scores A1 in hospitality,
gifted with diverse ethnic groups and eight different "kabilos"
which when combined are stronger than the Berlin wall.

I live in a village
where every "Kabilo" experience an annual Quranic recitation
To seeks for Allah's mercy, pray for unity, protection and success
of the village an the humanity at large.

I live in a village
where depression, annihilation, despondency and mopery
are replaced by the love for humanity
and love for one another.

I live in a village
where tolerance to faiths and religions, brotherhood and unity
define its villagers.
No matter the dark, my village always shine.

I live in a village
endowed with happy children.
It is the place where I was born and raised in absolute peace.
A village I am ever proud of.

I live in a village,
a village where fresh, green and clean vegetables are grown.
What is the name of my village?
My village is called GUNJUR.
